Mechanical and Electrical

Our client, a leading Construction and Infrastructure Services business working in the Rail sector, has a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical and Electrical Technician to join the business.  Our client has won a number of extra projects and is looking for an experienced M&E Technician to hit the ground running and join the existing team.  You will be required to respond to, attend site and rectify faults in a timely manner to minimise train delays, safety risks, and failures that inconvenience clients or travelling public.

Key tasks:


  • Respond to faults in a timely manner, deploying appropriate resources from the fault team in a prioritised way.
  • Diagnose and repair faults to restore equipment to service as soon as possible.
  • If repair is not possible you will be required to liaise with customers to ensure that a way forward is agreed that is accepted by all relevant parties.
  • Accurately record details of faults on the client’s system
  • Where the fault is a safety or train delay fault, liaise with a senior manager (the on-call manager out of hours) to ensure the necessary support.

Routine Maintenance

  • Carry out routine Maintenance as per the programme.
  • Record what Maintenance has been completed on the forms provided.
  • Identify assets that you are unable to maintain for whatever reason.
  • Assist the Site Engineer in creating a shift report for each shift identifying what activity was carried out.
  • Record all asset maintenance and inspection.

Experience and skills required

  • The ability to work safely in accordance with National Rail and client instructions and procedures.
  • Preferred Railway experience
  • NVQ Level 3 qualification  
  • C & G 18th Edition
  • C & G Inspection & Testing
  • Preferred Points Heating experience
  • Preferred Understanding of pump systems
  • PAT Testing
  • Preferred F Gas qualification
  • Knowledge of M&E assets & Fault rectification
  • The ability to identify any improvements to help reduce costs, increase value, or improve customer satisfaction.
