Structural Design Manager

Based in Leeds, Salary £55k

Everyone Everywhere is currently recruiting for an experienced Telecoms Design Manager for a large, well established Telecoms client who has recently won a number of new contracts in the GSM and Cellular markets. Due to the rapid expansion in this sector our client is looking to build an in-house Design Team to be able to offer a full turnkey service to its clients.

The main objective of this role is to manage the full activity of the Design Team to produce practical and efficient designs to client specifications. You will be responsible for the design of all sites through the design process, ensuring designs are completed in accordance with client KPIs and specifications.

Key Tasks
• To ensure high quality design delivery against business and client targets.
• Add to the team whilst ensuring that you play an active part in keeping appropriately motivated and trained to deliver high quality design solutions to the business.
• To challenge and review all elements of design, to be proactive and identify potential to reduce risk and improve efficiency wherever possible.
• Actively promote and demonstrate the client’s core values through day to day work and look to co-operate and communicate with other staff across the business and all relevant teams in the efficient and successful delivery of all projects.
• Working with the estimating and pre-contract teams to control the build up and timely submission of tenders.
• Prepare regular reports on department performance to assist in decision making.
Hold regular review meetings with the relevant management teams developing a pro-active focus upon client expectations and contract delivery.
• Co-ordinate and add value at bid stage of new schemes, when appropriate.
Be an integral senior member of the client to ensure that morale is maintained to the highest level.
• Ensure that designs adhere to policies in line with business objectives and ensure the company complies with legal requirements and best practice procedures.
To ensure that any issues on-going as a result of any Design improvement and/or change initiatives are managed effectively to the requirement of company and clients procedures and remain of prime importance.
• To liaise with other relevant Senior Managers within the company with regard to operating policy.

Person Specifications:-
• Ideally, degree qualified in Construction/Engineering Discipline. But experience will be taken into account
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a mobile telecommunications Design Engineer including on site surveys and design experience of Greenfield, Rooftop and Streetworks sites prior to moving into a management role.
• Knowledge of the latest version of AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT, photo editing software, Pro-MAP
• Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and British Standards would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Construction & H&S laws, practices and techniques
• Computer literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages including, word, excel, outlook, AutoCAD, photo editing software, ProMAP and databases
• Very strong commercial awareness particularly in relation to construction and fabrication costs.
• Flexible & professional approach to work and be a proven team leader.
• Self-motivated, confident & organised
• Ability to handle heavy workload & competing priorities

The role will be based in West Yorkshire.
